Happy New Year!

My Christmas present. The greatest baby carrier!!! Rorek feels weightless.

Cute baby :)

Reading to my rosy cheeked child. The downfall of crying oneself to sleep, lots of rubbing the face on the sheets.

Getting so BIG! Watching me blowdry my hair.

Trying....

Not much news here...parents have come and gone, Christmas has come and gone, New Years has come and gone....

And we begin are New Years resolution...or rather I am now calling my goal my resolution. We have switched Rorek over to sleeping in his crib, putting him in there awake to put himself to sleep, and following a feed/waketime/sleep pattern, and going longer periods between feedings. Thus far, he does NOT like his crib during the day. We are trying to figure out when is the right time to put him down and which cry is hunger versus other things. In turn, we have had more crying than we have ever had and he sees crankier to me :( which makes me sad and I admit cry a bit myself. It's hard when you know the crying will stop if you pick him up and hold him. I understand though that I can't feed him to sleep, rock him to sleep, and always hold him to sleep. So, we go day by day getting used to the idea and work toward the goal of a lengthy nite sleep for all of us. Positive, he has slept quite well at nite. For example, last nite we put him to bed at 845pm, he cried 15 minutes and slept until 225am. I fed him and he went back to sleep right away (255am-720am). I can't complain much about my days when I can now sleep in my own bed, and know that he will sleep 5 hours and I will get to climb back in bed and he will sleep an additional 4 or so :). I do miss him falling asleep in my arms :(, but do enjoy spending more time with my husband :). Also, the schedule involves Andrew more and Rorek doesn't always need mom.

We also tried a bottle the other day. No go! We will try again another day if the idea passes through one of our heads.

We brought out his space saver highchair this week, too. I think he enjoys sitting in it. He's able to watch us while we eat and seems quite peaceful or rather silent.

It's been cold here lately and I wish Rorek were born during a warmer time of the year. That way we could be outside on a walk every day. I hate to take him out in the cold, I constantly fear freezing him or making him too hot. We have managed a few walks in the cold, he closes his little eyes and hibernates for a bit. Thank goodness for breastfeeding, it has had positive effects on my baby weight, despite my lack of true exercise :). I plan to get to the gym again once Rorek's schedule is a bit more in order.
